Flood irrigation systems water plants from the bottom up by temporarily flooding the area temporarily with water or a nutrient mix. A pump moves water from a storage tank into the flood area until it reaches a specific depth. The pots then soak up water through their drainage holes. After a set period of time, the pump turns off to drain the flood area.

This method ensures the entire root system gets an even amount of water and nutrients.
